Exercises
Exercising emergency operations plans, agencies, and personnel is an integral part of the preparedness cycle. Drawing on more than two decades of exercise experience, IEM assists emergency managers and public safety and security officials in designing and delivering discussion as well as operations-based exercises. From tabletop and functional to command-post and full-scale, IEM exercises are consistent and compliant with DHS Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) guidelines.
On a national level, IEM is part of the team selected to support the DHS National Exercise Program (NEP) and TOPOFF 4. IEM is also responsible for implementation of the nationwide exercise program for testing preparedness in the 10 states and the more than 40 counties that fall in the footprint of the nation's chemical weapons stockpile sites.
Performance-based for objective assessment.
IEM's exercises are invaluable tools for assessing and improving performance. IEM's exercise program incorporates a performance-based methodology. The result is an objective assessment of preparedness, and specific recommendations for improvement. Our exercises are tailored so that capabilities can be built for all hazards, rather than just the event being exercised.
IEM's comprehensive exercise support includes:
- Exercise & Evaluation Program
- Response Modeling & Simulation
- Custom Scenario Development
- Consequence Assessment
- Performance Measures Design
- Master Scenario Event List (MSEL) Development
- On-Site Exercise Staffing
- Public Outreach
- Exercise Evaluation & Reporting
- Exercise Hotwash & After-Action Report (AAR)
