Homeland Security and Emergency Management

Demonstrated Success:

  • IEM is helping FEMA develop strategies, plans, and planning guidelines for its Recovery Mission, including mass evacuations and displaced disaster victims support.
  • As a partner with James Lee Witt and Associates, IEM professionals are working with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management in providing FEMA Public Assistance Program applicants with valuable disaster program support assistance and information.
  • As a member of the PBS&J Team, IEM is tasked to provide housing strategies, information management, and disaster recovery call center support under an Individual Assistance Technical Assistance Contract (IA TAC) with FEMA Disaster Recovery Services.
  • IEM supported FEMA's Technical Assistance contractor with temporary housing operations during the response and recovery to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in FEMA's Joint Field Office (JFO) in Baton Rouge, LA.

In addition, IEM recovery and mitigation specialists have:

  • Served as senior planner to the District of Columbia for response, recovery, and debris plans after 9/11.
  • Worked extensively with FEMA as technical advisor, project officer, trainer, and public assistance coordinator for more than 20 disasters.
  • Managed staff of 40 consultants working with applicants and FEMA on recovery process and project eligibility, policy development, insurance issues, & project development for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
  • Developed and implemented training sessions on all aspects of FEMA Public Assistance Program, including state public assistance, debris operations, debris management, and preliminary damage assessment
