Managing Risk in a Complex World

Defense Programs

3-D Visualization

The ability to effectively plan for potential threats and execute proper protection and response strategies is critical to military and government leaders engaged in the global war on terrorism. The nature of this war and elusiveness of our enemies demand improved strategic techniques that can be used to prevent or combat terrorist attacks.

At IEM we understand this challenge and are developing the capabilities that will allow warfighters to train, improvise, and adapt to these constantly changing threats.

Realistic, ground-level view.

Our interactive 3-D visualization capabilities allow commanders and planners to model different attack strategies and see the consequences of their actions play out via visualization. Unlike still photos, IEM's interactive tool provides a realistic environment that includes ground level details, both inside and outside at-risk facilities. The real-time simulation includes both quantitative and qualitative display of the structure and human consequences. Vulnerabilities are tested within the visualization engine and they play out as they might in the real world.  As a result, commanders can practice positioning personnel and equipment in a risk-free environment and immediately see likely outcomes.

Risk-free "mission rehearsals."

IEM’s 3-D visualization capabilities can be used to help identify personnel and resource requirements and to function as "mission rehearsals" for improvised explosive devices (IED), terrorist attacks, or hostage situations.  Special operations forces can apply this "serious games" technology to training exercises as a way to enhance intelligence and surveillance capabilities.
