3-D Visualization
The capability to visualize the impact of an improvised explosive device (IED) or other emergency event, implement protective measures in real-time, and then view the results in 3-D can offer significant advantages to security and emergency planners and military strategists. Information gained from different event scenarios can be used to revise and improve emergency response plans or defense strategies and to allocate funds to areas that are shown to have the most benefit.
Customized attack, protection scenarios.
Anytown™ is IEM’s 3-D modeling tool that allows planners to simulate an IED attack on sites that are more likely to be the target of terrorist attacks, including sports arenas, government buildings, and hospitals. Users design their own attack and protection scenarios, run the simulation, view real-world casualty and structural damage statistics, and then modify a scenario to run it again. A user-friendly interface provides an array of attack and prevention strategies that can be placed and manipulated as desired. This interactive tool provides a realistic environment that includes actual ground level details, both inside and outside buildings.
IEM's 3-D visualization capabilities may be used for:
- Targeting intelligence and surveillance capabilities to identify optimal areas to monitor.
- Creating "mission rehearsals" for emergency response to terrorist attacks, hostage situations, and natural disasters. Based on the scenario, the amount and type of resources needed can be identified.
- Developing "serious games" that can be used in conjunction with training exercises.
- Identifying the personnel and resources needed to ensure physical security.
